My grandson loved this. He is a big Transformer fan (and he is only 3!). He thought this was the funniest thing.

I received the above purchase in good condition and in a timely fashion. I wanted this potato head to complete my extensive potato head collection. It is of the same quality as previous potato head purchases. Potato heads rule!
Not Much Transforming With This Spud

Playskool must be making money on these movie tie-in characters because they keep on coming. This one is eye-catching with the bright orange color. Had I seen the actual Transformer movie, this robotic spud might be more of a hit with me. The first Transformer spud, Optimash Prime, has a more imposing and striking appearance with its mechanical arms and one piece helmet/nose configuration.

As I look at this Transformer spud, it crosses my mind that Mr. Potato Head is the original, low-tech transformer, changing appearance and form with some manipulation and switching of body parts.

As with all of the modern Potato Heads, kids will have more fun if more spare parts are available to them, especially those of Optimash.

I don't know how kids feel about it, but I'm disappointed that none of the Transformer body parts actually transform. They are all static, stationary parts that can't be bent, turned, or transformed in any way. One can only change the appearance of the machine-like parts by moving them or turning them over. Don't know if it was intentional, but I think it's amusing that car parts were used to configure an autobot.

Finally - This is an OK Mr. Potato Head. Others have been much more clever and dramatic in appearance than this one. Play value is limited by the amount of spare pieces on hand. I like that this particular spud was very easy to remove from the box. A four-year-old could do it without help.
On the side of the box containing this "more than meets the fry" figure is a "Pop `N Keep" punch out perforated mask. How long such a mask will survive in the hands of a toddler is anyone's guess.
This is not the best of the Potato Heads, but if your youngster likes Mr. Potato Head, he or she will probably like this action figure toy.

Bumble Spud earns three stars on its own merits and one star for being a Potato Head under those pseudo metallic trappings. Four stars I give Bumble Spud.
